Sensational news from the Albanian Alps! PPNEA has been notified by Catherine from Journey to Valbona about a photograph of a Balkan lynx individual taken by a local touristic guide in the region of Thethi. The photo is extraordinary also because it has been taken with a mobile phone. Besides proving the presence of lynx in the region, it also shows the growing enthusiasm among tourist operators about the potential of wildlife as an great natural resource.

Ardit - the local guide who took the picture - tells PPNEA about the lucky experience that led to this photograph. Given this evidence, PPNEA will increase monitoring activities in the region in the forthcoming period for generating more information on the potential existence of a lynx sub-population in the region.
