Within the CEPF founded project "Land of Eagles and Castles”, PPNEA and BSPB have organized a know-how exchange visit to Bulgaria, in the region of Burgas along the Black Sea coast from 24th to 29th of August. In this area are found the Burgas wetlands, a part of which, such as Atanasovsko lake and the area around are both a Natura 2000 and Ramsar site, and represent the most important bottle neck in Bulgaria for the migration of birds.
In addition, in this area is found the only Salinas in Bulgaria where the business and the conservation NGOs are giving very good examples of collaboration, being beneficial for site conservation and for all the parties. This study trip is attended by representatives from different governmental and nongovernmental institutions in Albania, having a direct role in the field of tourism development and environment protection, such as the Ministry of Tourism, National Tourism Agency, Authorities of Protected Areas in Vlora and Saranda, tourism agencies, local conservation NGOs etc.
The aim of this study visit is to "touch” the site conservation and development achievements, and learn also from the mistakes, in order to inspire a perspective for transferring the successful examples for the sustainable development of our project sites in Albania.
