Representatives of the Association for Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) participated at the "Balkan Green Belt Workshop” that took place in Lake Prespa, Greece along 29-30th of September 2015.
This event it was organized in the frame of the project "Protecting Biodiversity in the Balkans - Strengthening cooperation along the Balkan Green Belt”, which is jointly implemented by IUCN Programme Office for South-Eastern Europe and EuroNatur and funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt. The project aims at the conservation of a transboundary ecological network along the border of Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey and Romania through the enhancement of cooperation along the Balkan Green Belt. The main aim of the event was to sensitize stakeholders and decision makers on the value of the Balkan Green Belt and to actively involve all administration levels and NGO partners into regional process. Furthermore, to initiate a strategic process on regions level to define regional key aspects and objectives as well as focal areas for future collaboration along the Balkan Green Belt
This event it was attended by representatives of key NGO partner’s organizations and also by representatives of respective Ministry of Environment of each of the nine countries, along the Balkan Green Belt. The key NGO partners will be involved through grants/contracts for service to support the implementation of several project activities in the frame of this project.
During the workshop participants discussed the following topics:
- Contributing to concept a photo contest,
- Communication materials about the Balkan Green Belt,
- Contributing to concept a Green Belt Day,
- Discussing about the Regional Conference.
The Balkan Green Belt workshop resulted to be very successful, where all the participants were actively involved in all the organized activities and everyone shows to be very motivated also for further activities in the frame of this project.
