In the frame of "Balkan Lynx Recovery Proramme”, PPNEA organized the third workshop with Balkan lynx monitoring network in Albania. The workshop was organized on the 22 December 2015 in the city of Puka, due to the last incidents happened in Munella, as the massive logging and the kill of a lynx cub. The main aim of this meeting was to increase the cooperation and the further enlargement of the Balkan lynx monitoring network to protect the Munella Mt., the main shelter of this critically endangered species in Albania. In this meeting took part representatives of local government in Puka-Mirdita region, local collaborators, farmers, representatives of local media, ambassadors of the Balkan lynx, teachers etc. The main issues discussed along this appointment were the emphasize of the Balkan Lynx Recovery Prgramme, the identification of the actual problems happening in the Munella Mt. and the building cooperative bridges with the new members of monitoring network as promoters for the rising awareness in this region.
The conclusion of this meeting was meaningful and very important for the continuing of the future work to protect the Munella Mt. from the illegal human activity. Every representative of the institution but not only, chose his duties and responsibilities. Thus, representative of the local government ask for our collaboration and expertise for the formulation of a local action plan for Munella; lynx ambassadors will led further their informative mission and the awareness of the new generation for the importance of lynx conservation; representative of local community and the ours collaborators in the field will be vigilant and to report for every incident related to MUnella and lynx.
Finally, this appointment and the issued discussed, are a further step toward a meaningful and vital mission, the mission for the lobbying to give Munella Mt. the status of "Protected Area”, because only in this way we protect and recover two great national treasures: the Mountain of Munella and the Balkan lynx.
