PPNEA representatives, together with representatives from EuroNatur, Federal Agency for Nature Protection (BfN), and Regional Agency of Protected Areas-Elbasan, organized an expedition in Rrajca on 11-12-13 July, to see the area and to monitor three ongoing pilot/model projects; (i) Promotion and awareness rising;(ii) Promoting sustainable development; (iii) Promoting alternative energy use within the area.
This activity was organized in the framework of the project "Nature Conservation and Sustainable Development at the Green Belt Albania”, financially supported by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation and jointly implemented by Euronature Germany and PPNEA.
The project aims to contribute on the protection and the preservation of the high biodiversity values and sustainable rural development on two protected areas (Rrajca and Gashi strict Natural Reserve) along the Balkan Green Belt in Albania.
This project is mainly focused on the implementation of different pilot/model projects within the areas, in order to improve the management and the living conditions of the local population through rural development and environmentally friendly practices. Currently, three pilot projects are under implementation by three local partner organizations (Agri-en, Egnatia, and National Federation of Communal Forests and Pastures of Albania).
