Celebrating World Migratory Bird Day in the Kashta Slough

PPNEA in close collaboration with National Protected Areas Agency, Fishery Management Organization of Kukws and FINCH organization from Kosovo, organized educational and awareness activity in the frame work of the World Migratory Bird Day, on 9 May, in Kukes, Kashta Slough. 

Pupils from the Kukes 9-years schools participated in this activity. Also there were present a lot of local collaborators and environmental specialists.
The aim of this activity is education and awareness of the new generation about the importance of bird life protection especially in a very important zone for migratory birds such as the Kukes Lake. Our organization was in the same line with this year theme "Energy-Make it Bird Friendly”. 

The educational activities were organized in two parts. In the first part there were three presentations made by Mr.  Bekim Trezhnjeva (PPNEA specialist), Besnik Hallaçi (Kukes Protected Areas Agency Director) and Arben Palushi (Chairman of FMO). They presented for the audience the most important aquatic bird species in Kukes Area and the importance of their protection. 

The second part of this activity was bird watching. Environmental specialist and the students were transported in the Kashta Slough in order to see some bird species in this area and other species of reptiles and amphibians.  

PPNEA is working strongly in different aquatic environment driving a significant impact in environment protection in order to make our country bird-friendly and eco-friendly.
