Local people from Prespa experienced a weekend different from usual, being part of the activities organized by PPNEA and PrespaNet - a network of three environmental organizations for the protection of Prespa, in the framework of the Green Belt Day.
On 22 September, PPNEA’s team gave a presentation to school children Liqenas, to inform them about the Green Belt Initiative and the pearls along it, and Prespa region being one of those.
They continued the next day to put together wooden materials in the form of a nest box and decorated them afterwards by painting in different colors helped also by their teachers.
The activities were finalized with the main celebration event organized by PrespaNet in Oteshevo, in the shore of the Big Prespa Lake.
This symbolic day gathered three Mayors of the Municipalities sharing the Prespa region, Municipality of Resen, Pustec and Greek Prespes, representatives of Ministry of Environment, representatives of three National Parks in each country and other stakeholders.
The celebration of the Green Belt Day, on 24th of September started with a tour bike composed by different persons from the three countries that overrun along Prespa Lake. Later on they joined the party with traditional food, music and dance from Prespa region.
These activities were realized in the nine countries of Balkan Green Belt, supported by EuroNatur, which is the curent chair of our region.
