THE EGYPTIAN VULTURE VISITS THE SECOND SUPPLEMENTARY FEEDING STATION
The first monitoring of camera traps in the second supplementary feeding station, brought positive news regarding the conservation of the Egyptian Vulture in Albania. From the photographs we could witness the repeated visits from one individual of the Egyptian Vulture population, which shows that the station has fulfilled its mission of providing safe food for this endangered species. Poisoning cases are a threat on the entire Balkan Peninsula, which has aggravated the situation for this vulture, by bringing its population to 45 pairs along the Balkans. PPNEA for several years has undertaken concrete measures for the conservation and recovery of the Egyptian vulture, including the construction of two supplementary food stations, isolation of energy infrastructures and the formalization of “Saviors of Egyptian Vulture” network, etc. We want to thank the Municipality of Tepelena, project “Nivica”, Rapa Gjirokastër and the network “Saviors of Egyptian Vulture”, for supporting the initiative and helping in constructing and maintaining the supplementary food station. Two supplementary feeding stations were supported by CEPF and are maintained by the project “Egyptian Vulture New Life”.
