THE MAGNIFICENT VULTURE DIEGO VISITS ALBANIA
Thanks to the technology and dedicated studies towards birds, we have collected impressive data, from the behaviors, habitats, migration routes up to detailed data such as the speed of the birds or the real-time location of the birds.

Recently, plenty of rare species, equipped with GPS, have visited our country and among the latest ones is Diego, ‘the tourist vulture’. Hatched in 2018 at Associazione CERM Centro Rapaci Minacciati, Diego has been released in 2019 at Regional Park Murgia Materana, being part of the wildlife. On 26th of April 2021, this young individual passed the Adriatic Sea and is visiting Balkan countries, including Albania.

For around one week, the #Egyptianvulture Diego has been around Albania, visiting the main national parks such as Shebenik-Jabllanicë National Park, Tomorri Mountain National Park, Karaburun-Sazan National Park, Llogara National Park, travelling more than 4500 km in total.

The population of the Egyptian vulture in Albania is at its lowest levels, with around 5 occupied territories, and needs urgent actions towards its conservation. Let’s hope the Egyptian vulture Diego finds an abundant territory with safe food and without disturbance.
