Erjola Keçi

Erjola Keci, born in Tirana, Albania, is currently Associated Professor at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës, Albania, Faculty of Professional Studies; She is lecturer of Biology and Protection of Marine Environment at Department of Natural and Applied Sciences. Ms. Keci holds a Bachelor Diploma in Biology, Tirana University, Faculty of Natural Sciences, (BSc in Biology 5-years studies, 2006), MSc in Biology, Tirana University, Faculty of Natural Sciences (2010) and PhD in Conservation Biology, Tirana University, Faculty of Natural Sciences (2014). Assoc. Prof. Keci has completed the international multi-disciplinary qualification on Governance and management of Fisheries and Maritime Policies, at CNR (Centro Nazionale delle Ricerche) – National Research Centre, Italy and Palermo University (Laboratory of molecular taxonomy and Laboratory of population genetics and evolution) for a period of six months (2014). In 2021 she has obtained the academic title “Associated Professor” at Tirana University; Faculty of Natural Sciences. Ms. Keci has an academic experience of more than 18 years.

Ms. Keci is engaged in international projects related to nature/water conservation/protection policy, natural/water resources use & management and water quality monitoring programmes, for more than 19 years; During her professional carrier she has gained wide experience in institutional capacity building, and a deep knowledge of institutional set-up in Albania and in the Western Balkan Region. Sha has full knowledge of the EU water and nature acquis, particularly with the Water Framework Directive and other water sector Directives. Her relevant working practices include:

Integrated Water Resources Management and River Basin Management Plans preparation, Preparation of Assessment Reports and Programmes of Measures in the Western Balkans;
EU Water Framework Directive Implementation;
Strategic Action Plans Preparation and Implementation for the water basins and Protected Areas;
Protected areas management and local development;
Biological water quality assessment; Benthic invertebrates sampling and monitoring;
Development and execution of monitoring programmes and plans;
Environmental trainings organization and development;
Data gathering and evaluation – issues identification, consultation; Identification of constraints, opportunities and threats;
Working experience of applying gender perspectives to water resource sector;
Participatory approaches and participatory planning of rural, national and regional developmental activities.

Ms. Keci is familiar with institutional capacity development in the water resources sector and capacity building, training, on-the-job training.

Ms. Keci is the author of Biology, textbook for students of medicinal sciences. She is author and co-author of several national and international technical reports, monographs and many scientific publications in peer reviewed journals at, national, regional and international level.
