Aleksandër Trajçe

Executive Director

Aleksandër has been dedicated to nature conservation in Albania since 2004, starting his journey as a passionate volunteer with PPNEA. Over the years, he became a skilled researcher within the organisation and managed a multitude of nature conservation projects, culminating with his appointment as PPNEA’s Executive Director in January 2018.

Aleksandër holds an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Management from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Roehampton, London. His expertise and dedication have earned him membership in three esteemed IUCN SSC specialist groups: the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe, the Bear Specialist Group, and the Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Group.

Aleksandër strives to advance nature conservation efforts in Albania guided by a commitment to scientific rigor and a deep respect for local cultural contexts and knowledge systems. His work aims to combine scientific research with practical, community-driven solutions, aimed at ensuring a sustainable future for the country’s rich biodiversity.
