Position Title: Bat Expert
Project: URBiodiversity – Urban Biodiversity Monitoring in Tirana and Librazhd
The URBiodiversity project aims to contribute to the conservation and sustainable management of urban biodiversity in Tirana and Librazhd by establishing a citizen science-based monitoring system and strengthening local nature management practices in urban areas.
Within this framework, PPNEA invites qualified experts to apply for the position of Bat Expert, who will analyze bat calls previously recorded by PPNEA experts.
Duration
- Contract duration: 3 months
- Estimated working days: 8 working days during the period October–December 2026
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Analysis of bat calls and identification of species using Kaleidoscope Pro software.
- Mapping of species according to the monitored transects in Tirana.
- Interpretation of the results in a short report, including:
- Summary of findings;
- Analysis of indicators;
- Recommendations for further actions at the local level.
Final Deliverable
- Summary report of the monitoring findings.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, or related fields.
- Experience in bat monitoring and bat call analysis.
- Good communication skills and experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
Experience with citizen science or community involvement in biodiversity monitoring will be considered an advantage.
