STRENGTHENING OF LOCAL ACTION GROUPS AS STAKEHOLDER FOR BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION IN THE SHARR/ŠAR PLANINA/KORAB-KORITNIK REGION SHARED BY ALBANIA, KOSOVO AND MACEDONIA
The vision of the project is to prepare the basis for a sound and long term conservation of the outstanding mountainous landscape as well as sustainable development of the region with the local population as active drivers in both regards.
The project is aiming for the following two outputs: (i) Local action groups in all three countries fulfil their role as stakeholder for biodiversity protection (TM Output 1); (ii) Local Action Groups disseminate knowledge about the values of protection and cross-border use of natural resources (TM Output 2)
Thereby the objectives of the project are as following:(i) Establishment of LAGs in Kosovo and Albania as well as strengthening of all three LAGs through knowledge and capacity building in order to become more effective and efficient to support the biodiversity protection and sustainable use of the natural resources in Sharr/Šar Planina/Korab-Koritnik Mountain; (ii) Increased awareness and knowledge of the local population as well as key stakeholders in the region about the values of the Sharr/Šar Planina/Korab-Koritnik area and its need for protection and sustainable use of the natural resources.
