The first phase of the Tripoint Brown Bear Project (TBB) has concluded, marking a significant moment in our efforts to preserve the brown bear population! A summary of this two-year project was presented during the recent meeting, highlighting the conducted trainings, discussions on conflicts between bears and humans, emergency response strategies, and more. The main achievements of this project included: studies and measures against habitat fragmentation, increased awareness and promotion of collaboration with various stakeholders, development of monitoring protocols for this endangered species, creation of a database and mapping in GIS. Another phase is expected to commence in the coming months, with a particular focus on monitoring and preserving habitats. In Albania, in collaboration with partners Euronatur, MES, and Callisto, the project was implemented in the southeastern region, including Shebenik-Jabllanicë, Polis-Gur i Zi-Valamarë, Prespë, Moravë, Gramoz, Hotovë, Tomor, and Ostrovicë.
