Along this breeding season, the supplementary feeding station (SFS) built last year from PPNEA and RAPA Gjirokastër (within the Land of Eagles and Castles project) it is regularly maintained and supplied with controlled food for birds of prey. This measure becomes necessary in order to decrease the cases of accidental poisoning of birds of prey and particularly vultures which are severely threatened from extinction in Albania. Results of the research that PPNEA and partners have realized in the last years and continues, unfortunately confirm more and more that poisoning is one of the main threats responsible for the decline of the Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus) population in the Albania. The maintenance of SFS is realized thanks to the commitment of RAPA Gjirokastër, which is often implementing activities targeting the conservation of Egyptian Vulture in the area.
