“Nature education through art” brought to Prespa a new way of engaging youth with nature, where seed art became a tool for education, self-expression, and awareness-raising. The project, implemented by PPNEA in collaboration with the Municipality of Pustec, began with an exhibition by artist Snezhana Llazarova Luna, where the public was introduced for the first time to this unique art form created using natural materials such as lentils, quinoa, and chia seeds.
Following this inspiring introduction, 15 students from the schools “Dy Dëshmorët” and “Rezistenca e Goricarëve” participated in a five-day workshop on the seed art technique and the importance of biodiversity. Under the guidance of the artist and PPNEA staff, the students learned how to use each element carefully and creatively to express their vision of nature.
In the weeks that followed, the students created their unique artworks through patience and dedication. These paintings were showcased on May 22nd at the premises of the Municipality of Pustec, in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity, in an exhibition attended by teachers, parents, institutional representatives, and community members. A jury evaluated the most outstanding works, highlighting the creativity and sensitivity toward nature.
To further promote the project’s message, the exhibition continued as a traveling showcase. The first stop was the “Tefta Tashko Koço” School of Art in Korçë, where local students were inspired by the works of their peers and contributed with their own interpretations through canvas paintings. The exhibition then moved to the “Odeon” amphitheater in Pogradec, where young people, adults, and international visitors paused to observe and discuss the artworks, thus expanding the project’s interactive dimension.
“Prespa in seeds” demonstrated that art is a powerful language that inspires, educates, and connects generations through a shared responsibility to protect nature.
This activity promoted the message of preserving the natural heritage of Prespa, demonstrating the power of art to educate and inspire younger generations. We thank all the students, teachers, parents, and institutional partners who made this extraordinary experience possible.
