European Parliament: Stop the Airport!
In a significant development, the European Parliament recently took a definitive stance on the matter by adopting position 83 of the Committee on Foreign Affairs report on the 2022 Commission Report on Albania. This decision carries substantial weight and raises crucial points that demand careful consideration.
The European Parliament’s adopted position prominently highlights the pressing concern that the EU expressed for the Albanian Government, to halt any ongoing or proposed projects that have the potential to violate both national and international norms aimed at safeguarding biodiversity. Specifically, the position draws attention to the Vlora International Airport within the protected area.
This is another decision of the European Union which is ignored by the authorities allowing the continuation of the works at the construction site and at the same time, ignoring the Albanian aspiration for integration in this union!
