In these photos taken exactly 12 years ago on May 2nd 2007, from the PPNEA’s staff, in the area of “Guri i Bardhë” situated in the north-east of Tirana – the capital of Albania, it is shown an Egyptian Vulture that represents the last documented individual of this species breeding in central Albania or away from the last piece of breeding ground (around 1500 sq km) that has remained for this species in southern Albania only.
These photos are “a living witness” of the critical decrease that has happened to the breeding ground surface and population size of the Egyptian Vulture in Albania, in only few years. Let these photos encourage all us towards a more friendly approach for conservation of species and nature.
