Built as a direct conservation measure against poisoning of the Egyptian vulture population, the supplementary feeding station of Kurvelesh has attracted a dozen of other bird species, including the Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), our national symbol.
This magnificent species, with a wingspan of 190 – 225 cm, represents a rare silhouette in the Albanian skies. For this reason, we cannot help but feel happy when the golden eagle visits our stations.
The golden eagle is the second most frequent visitor of our supplementary feeding station. Just as the Egyptian vulture, this species is critically threatened by unintentional poisoning.
