BirdOn in Vjose-Narte

BirdON within the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape

A few days ago, the birds of the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape warmly welcomed the group of young ornithologists from the #BirdOn course.

Through telescopes, binoculars, and cameras, they observed the Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Pied avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta), Little Tern (Sternula albifrons), Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica), and many other species. This period, which coincides with the hatching season and the parental care, is one of the most exciting seasons for us, as it sparks a lot of interest and curiosity among the youth who had the opportunity to observe them up close.

During the expedition, they also visited the construction site of Vlora Airport, which is flagrantly violating both national and international laws, posing a severe threat to the ecological integrity of the Vjosa-Narta Protected Area.
