Divjake-Karavasta National Park is one of the most important wetlands of Albania and home of the Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus), a critically endangered species. Besides monitoring and direct conservation actions aiming the recovery of this species, PPNEA, NOE Conservation and park administration on 2017 proposed proclamation of Pelican’s Day aiming to raise awareness for the importance and recovery of this species. Thanks to our work, partners, other stakeholders, locals, pelicans wardens and special care of RAPA Fier the population of Dalmatian pelican is recovering.
