JACKHOWL NIGHT

JACKHOWL NIGHT

Howlings coming from the dark may sound a little frightening… but also very intriguing.

As part of our research on the golden jackal, we invite you to join us for a unique experience: listening to jackals howl in the wild at Shkodra Lake.

During the event, we will demonstrate active acoustic stimulation, a technique where we play recorded jackal calls to trigger responses from wild jackals. By listening to their replies, we can estimate the number of territorial groups and solitary individuals living in the area.

This monitoring method is currently being carried out in three important wetland protected areas in western Albania, and simultaneously in Italy, Montenegro, and Serbia by our partners within the 4PETHABECO project.

So… if you’re curious enough and a little bit “brave”, come join us!
