Otter captured by our camera trap

Otter captured by our camera trap
As you already know Otter (Lutra Lutra), is listed as near threatened (NT) by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and is listed in Annexes II and IV of the European Habitats Directive. PPNEA team completed for this year three phases of otter monitoring in Prespa Lakes. Of the 28 points obtained during the study, the presence of otter marks was evidenced in almost all points. In addition to the monitoring method from the presence of scats, tracks, food waste, etc., were collected data from camera trap, which were placed in potential nests, evaluated before as a resting place. Also, the frequent presence of Lundërza scats near places where people carry out their activity such as fishing boats, is an indication that this species is peaceful and seeks to live in harmony. Another positive indicator about otter scats, are their findings in random places, where people carry out their activity such as fishing boats etc. We are pleased to report that this species is peaceful and seeks to live in harmony.
