THREE BALKAN LYNXES KILLED IN ELBASAN: STILL NO RESPONSIBLE
The killing of three Balkan Lynx individuals for the purpose of decorating a restaurant, published one week ago from the newspaper “Liberation”, has provoked strong public reaction. Unfortunately, even after national and international news media coverage, the apathy of the authorities prevails. There are no actions taken yet and no responsible is found.

Three Balkan Lynxes stuffed in Elbasan represent 30% of the actual population of this species in Albania. It should be emphasized that the Balkan Lynx (Lynx lynx balcanicus) is a critically endangered species (CR) according to International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

This case of international importance should not be left unresolved. PPNEA urges the authorities to prioritize such situation, in order to prevent similar ones in the future and enforce the law in such situations.
