To Become Part of the National Network for Genetic Monitoring of the Brown Bear in Albania
Civil society organizations whose focus, or part of whose activity, is the protection of the environment and biodiversity, and especially those with experience in wildlife monitoring, are invited to express their interest in becoming part of the National Network for Genetic Monitoring of the Brown Bear in Albania.
Organizations, local action groups, and other registered entities operating in the regions of Kukës, Shkodër, Dibër, Lezhë, Durrës, Tiranë, Elbasan, Korçë, Berat, and Gjirokastër are invited to apply to be included in this initiative.
The selected organizations will be engaged in fieldwork for the collection of genetic material during the period September–November 2026, contributing to the first ever national scale assessment of the brown bear population in Albania.
This initiative is being carried out within the framework of the regional project Life DinPin Bear, in cooperation with the National Agency of Protected Areas. The included organizations will receive financial compensation to cover expenses related to field activities and, in cooperation with PPNEA, will be engaged in monitoring specific areas within their respective region.
Eligibility criteria: For each of the above mentioned regions, one organization will be selected that meets the following criteria:
- Is an entity registered under Albanian legislation.
- Has environmental protection, biodiversity, or wildlife protection within its scope of activity.
- Has staff or a person responsible for coordinating study expeditions.
- Submits a letter of expression of interest.
- Submits the required documentation within the application deadline.
- Is available to carry out field activities during the period September–November 2026.

- Certificate or decision of registration of the entity.
- Letter of expression of interest.
- Contact details of the organization and of the responsible person. (All documents are preferably submitted in PDF format)
