Last weekend, PPNEA’s local office in Prespa hosted the first young students’ summer camp learning about birdwatching and how to recognize Spring Alive 7 migratory bird species but also other magnificent birds found in Prespa. A group composed of 15 high school students and Junior Rangers from the local villages of Pustec, Kallamas, and Gorice e Vogel, firstly were introduced with Spring Alive education campaign on a session indoors, and then continued with a visit outdoors around the Great Prespa lake.
The group expressed their curiosity and joy of discovering the birds of their area in a different way guided by PPNEA Experts and RAPA Korca representatives. By using binoculars, telescopes, and the bird guide they slowly learned how to identify the most common species in the lake and also were able to count other different species.
This is only the first one of the several Spring Alive summer camp events that will be organized in different protected areas of Albania, hoping to inspire youngsters to engage in birdwatching and take action for their protection.
