Transboundary research camp ”Pelister 2019”, learning together in the real laboratory – Nature
Following last years successful experience of the first transboundary Summer school on “Environmental education and Nature Interpretation” hosted by PPNEA this year the PrespaNet partners organized the second transboundary summer school ”Summer Research Camp –Pelister 2019” that took place in Pelister National Park and was hosted by MES from 8th to 13th of July.
This year the Research Camp welcomed 15 students from Albania, North Macedonia and Greece, which participated in different theoretical and practical session’s relation to flora and fauna monitoring. The students divided in several groups, so called sections, depending on the taxonomic interest (algology, arachnology, entomology, botany, mycology, ornithology and herpetology) were mentored by experts from their respective fields, witch work as university professors, associates or researchers, both nationally and internationally.
Two experts from PPNEA, Bledi Hoxha (Large carnivore expert) and Mirjan Topi (Birds Expert) joined the Camp and leaded the respective groups by sharing their expertise with the participants.
Also our Local Officer Cveta Trajce and the Director of PONT Mirjam de Koning joined the Students, the experts and the PrespaNet partners during the first day of the Summer Camp where was presented to the students the work that PrespaNet does in the region with the support of PONT, the aim and the importance of their participation in the Summer Research Camp.
Besides the knowledge the students exchanged experiences, enjoyed the beautiful nature of the Pelister National Park and meet new friends and possibly future colleagues.
