Exploring the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape with the New Members of the Volunteer Group
Accompanied by the freshly-joined members of the volunteer group, the PPNEA and HBS Tirana team organized an expedition to the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape, where they explored the Narta lagoon and the villages of Kërkovë and Akërni.
At the Narta lagoon, the new volunteers engaged in birdwatching, witnessing the remarkable biodiversity of the area. In the village of Kërkovë, also known as the “Balcony of Vjosa-Narta”, the group surveyed the entire protected landscape, including the airport runway, which is almost impossible to ignore.
The volunteers further stopped at the airport location, where the construction of the connecting road and other infrastructure is drastically damaging the landscape of the protected area, in violation of national laws and international conventions for nature conservation.
