A talk about the Mediterranean Monk Seal at the Wake Up programme
This morning, representatives from PPNEA were invited at the Wake Up programme to discuss regarding the presence of the Mediterranean Monk Seal across the Albanian coastline. The discussion focused on the marine caves, their potential as resting and pupping sites for this rare species and the work that PPNEA is doing in monitoring these suitable habitats. Furthermore, we emphasized the critically endangered status of this seal and the volunteer work of fishermen, tourists and locals on signalizing its presence.

The presence of Mediterranean Monk Seal along the Albanian coastline is a clear indicator of the outstanding natural potential our country has. Therefore, it is our duty to preserve such natural environments and to influence as less as possible on them. Only in this way we can offer a chance to such critically endangered species to live undisturbed into their habitats.
